Research statement

The pulvinar takes up nearly half of the thalamic volume. It is reciprocally connected with various neocortical areas belonging to the visual processing hierarchy, and damage to it can lead to spatial hemineglect. Its functional contribution to visual processing and attention is however far from clear. A possible role of the pulvinar lies in cortico-thalamo-cortical communication and, more specifically, in the modulation of information exchange between early (V1) and intermediate (V4) areas of the visual cortex. I will test this hypothesis with the application of electrophysiological methods.
