Stronger together: Frankfurt Alliance

New science network brings together 16 institutions from the greater Frankfurt/Rhine-Main region. The Ernst Strüngmann Institute (ESI) is happy to be part of it.

The Frankfurt/Rhine-Main science region is characterized by a high density of research institutions that are already interconnected in many ways. This cooperation is now to be intensified even further: 16 institutions, including the ESI, have joined forces to form the Frankfurt Alliance. The initiative includes 5 Max Planck Institutes, 3 Leibniz Institutes, 2 Fraunhofer Institutes and one Helmholtz Institute as well as the Paul Ehrlich Institute and Goethe University Frankfurt.

The aim of the alliance is to further develop the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main region as a leading research location in Europe. The international recognition and attractiveness of the region for top-level research is to be further increased. In addition, joint activities are expected to promote closer links between the institutions. The first joint public event of the Frankfurt Alliance will be a science festival in downtown Frankfurt on September 28.

Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Federal Minister of Education and Research, and Timon Gremmels, Hessian Minister of Science and Research, Art and Culture, congratulated the alliance at the launch event in the Römer. Frankfurt’s Lord Mayor Mike Josef and Dr. Bastian Bergerhoff, Frankfurt City Treasurer, also support the new alliance and are convinced of the benefits for the region. Prof. Dr. Enrico Schleiff, President of Goethe University, is delighted: “Together, we have unique potential to address the important issues of the future and enter into a productive exchange with the public. I’m already looking forward to the science festival in September!” The Ernst Strüngmann Institute couldn’t agree more - we look forward to further, closer cooperation.
